Feeding Finches, Day 6 {100 days outside}

It was after dusk when I stepped outside, nine-degree air burning in my lungs.  The Finch feeder has been empty for two days.  Putting out seed tonight means that my eyes will feast in the morning.  It means that dozens of tiny, brave birds will have a feast to rise to in the morning.  We will all be fed.

When my task was complete my attention moved to the glistening surface of the frozen yard.  And I could not resist its beckoning.  I ran as I never did as a child with my arms outstretched, my steps echoing as they broke the crisp surface.  Tonight too I am full.
